'The En Plein Air Masters' of the USA Exciting News ! I have been invited by 'The En Plein Air Masters' of the USA to be a Tutor/Mentor at their prestigious 2 weeks of workshops in August. We will be staying at the Fairmont Algonquin an elegant resort hotel located in St. Andrews by the Sea, New Brunswick CANADA. As the title suggests we will be painting out side at every opportunity and anyone who knows me knows that’s the way I like it; painting out in the open air, taking in the sights and sounds of our chosen locations and producing spontaneous work full of life and vitality. There is a wealth of painting subjects right on our doorstep and due to our location on the bay maritime views abound. There are two separate weeks available. The first week is a traditional Artist Workshop/Paint Out where all are invited to join me painting out on location with demonstrations and group critiques dates 17-24 August 2008. The second week is the Artist Mentored Session which is limited to 6 people only. The participating artists will get individual help and guidance plus critiques as we explore the surrounding countryside, dates August 27 - September 3 2008. 	The glorious garden route – South Africa November 2008: I have been talking to Ann at Saga about the possibility of arranging a two-week painting holiday to South Africa in November next year. We fly into Port Elizabeth and make our way along the magnificent Garden Route to Cape Town. This tour provides a good mix of travel and sight seeing with Hotel stays along the route including Port Elizabeth, Plettenberg Bay, Swellendam and Cape Town. The Grand Tetons : Wyoming USA What can I say about this truly magnificent part of the States. The awesome and inspiring peaks of the Teton range leap abruptly from the undulating valley floor soaring to well over 13,000 ft. There are crystal clear rivers, jewel like lakes, tall jagged peaks and enough fall foliage to blind you. There is so much space and the scenery is spectacular. We also spend a day in Yellowstone National Park with its hot springs, geysers and herds of bison. This year we will be flying into Jackson Falls which is just a 50-minute drive over the mountain pass into Idaho. We will be staying just outside Driggs in Idaho at the foot of the Tetons with mountain views right outside. Our accommodation will be at the spacious Ski Hill Ranch, a magnificent property right in the foothills of the Grand Tetons. The ranch boasts 360 mountain views and has 24-foot high picture windows at the front and rear. Therefore, you really do get a “room with a view”!! 	The Glens of Antrim: Northern Ireland Our trip to the Glens last year lived up to our expectations. Apart from the weather which got a bit ‘soft’ towards the end of the week, we were all in agreement that the area was truly fantastic with some really great scenery and plenty of painting subjects. There is something here for everyone! Dramatic coastal scenery, small harbours quiet glens and waterfalls and the Giants causeway all within a stones throw of our base. We will be staying at the Marina Hotel in Ballycastle, right by the harbour and only a 50-minute drive from Belfast Airport. All this and an area unspoilt by tourism where you can really get away from it all ….. and true Irish hospitality! Andalucia - Spain Back at the Finca for some more great painting holiday experiences. The Finca del Nino is now a firm favourite so we will be back again next year to sample the delights of this splendid area. The Finca is set in its own grounds and mango trees with its own shady courtyard, swimming pool and tennis court surround us. Our hosts Sally and Denis are still serving up culinary delights to keep us going through the day …… and into the evening! We are positioned in a quiet location between the sea and the mountains and are ideally situated for a great choice of painting venues. Also the weather is hot …. However, not too hot!! Watercolour painting & drawing workshops The Pavilion, Upton St Leonards, Gloucestershire From Thursday 3 January 2008 for 4 weeks. 3 hours each day from 2.30pm to 5.30pm. Kick start the New Year by loosening up your watercolours and improving your sketching skills. Also try out the new Derwent “Inktense” pencils which are great for quick full colour sketches. All materials will be available for sale should you require them.
